Filmmaker Subhash Ghai held a grand music launch for his new film, Mukta Arts’ “Kaanchi: The Unbreakable,” at Hotel Sofitel Mar. 18.
Present were music composers Ismail Darbar and Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Irshad Kamil on the stage, along with singers Anwesha and Ankit Tiwari, as well as the lead pair, Kartik and Mishti.
Ghai told the audience that he had been through a similar trough in the past as he was facing now after back-to-back commercial failures after “Krodhi” had bombed and he decided to make a film with new stars despite the pressure. And so was made his 1983 blockbuster “Hero.” This time, he had a similar determination to come back with a bang and with newcomers and great music.
Dharmendra was present at the music launch. Jackie Shroff, whom Ghai had launched in “Hero,” was also present to bless the new team. Some of the songs from the film, like “Tu Sab Kuch Re,” “Kaisa Hai Dard Mera” and “Hindustan Kahaan Hai,” were performed live and the making of the songs were also shown as audio-visuals.
The highlight of the evening was showing the making and the in-film use of “Main Mushtanda,” written and composed by Subhash Ghai, who even tangoed to the song. Mika leads the vocals in the film and Chandan Roy Sanyal enacts the song.
