ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top literary Kamal-i-Fann Award for life achievement in literature has gone to veteran Sindhi progressive writer, poet, play writer and intellectual Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo.
This was announced by the chairman of the award committee Masood Ashar. This is highest ranked national award which granted in the field of literature.
It was for the third time that the award has gone to a writer from Sindh. Previous recipients of the award, which carries a cash prize of Rs500,000, are Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Intizar Hussain, Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi, Ahmad Faraz, Shaukat Siddiqui, Munir Niazi, Ada Jafferey, Sobho Giyanchandani, Dr Nabi Bux Baloch, Jameel U Din Aali, Muhammad Ajmal Khattak, Abdul Ullah Jamaldeni, Lutuf Ullah and Bano Qudsia.
From this year’s panel of judges were including Dr Fahmida Hussain, Dr Saadat Saeed, Zahida Hina, Masood Ashar, Dr Raaj Wali Shah Khattak, Dr Tuseef Tabsam, Dr Anwar Zahidi, MR Shafaq and Janib Wahid Bux Bozdar.
