Although the movie didn’t catapult Rani into Bollywood, it certainly gave her a stepping-stone. However, the actress shined at the big screen after the success of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol starrer ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998), for which Rani won the Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress.
Since then, there’s been no looking back for Rani – who has been a part of critically acclaimed movies like ‘Black’, ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Yuva’.
Nonetheless, Rani has garnered her fair share of controversy during the past few years regarding her relationship with Aditya Chopra.
Neither she is a beauty queen nor has she ever been tagged as hot and sensuous diva but when it comes to acting, no actress of her time can stand against her. A girl next door with an extraordinary spark, Rani Mukerji always wooed audiences by her charm.
Having worked with all four Khans of Bollywood- Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan, Mukerji boasts of learning the craft from each of them.
Trying her acting skill in almost all genres, she has also earned praise for her portrayal of a headstrong journalist in No One Killed Jessica, and the film won her a Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actress.
The talented actress almost disappeared from movies for a very long time, but made a comeback with ‘Aaiya’ – which failed to fare well at the box office – but managed to regain her status with ‘Talaash’ – in which she stars opposite Aamir Khan.
Rani hails from a family of acclaimed actors, filmmakers and singers – Kajol, Ayan Mukerji, Ram Mukherjee and Krishna Mukherjee.
Rani will be seen in a new avatar, in her next acting venture YRF’s ‘Mardaani’, which is slated to release by July, 2014.
