Surprise, surprise… it’s pop star Britney Spears working as a waitress.
Dressed in a smart uniform, she tiptoed into the sedate tea rooms of London’s Savoy Hotel as a special treat for fan James Colbourn, 27.
Surprise Surprise host Holly Willoughby, 32, arranged for the Everytime singer to meet James, from Ipswich, after his sister Sadie nominated him for his unfailing support since she gave birth to twins George and Riley at just 26 weeks.
A year later they were diagnosed with cerebral palsy and James has supported her “every step of the way,” Sadie, 23, wrote.
“He gave up his spare time and cared for the boys as if they were his own – I could not have done it without him,” she tells the show.
The Christmas special, which also stars Olly Murs, shows James gasp with excitement as he spots Britney pretending to be a waitress tip-toeing towards them.
Britney, 32, has made no secret of her love of the UK. She recently told of her addiction to the country’s high street store, Poundland, and tweeted her dismay at missing favourite soap Coronation Street when in London promoting her new single.
Show insiders reveal she leapt at the chance to jet back to England to surprise James.
A source said: “Britney has been coming to the UK for years and loves all things British. Production staff were stunned when she admitted she actually used to watch the show – and loved Cilla.
The source added: “James is a massive Britney fan. He nearly faints when he spots Britney because he thinks the surprise is having afternoon tea at The Savoy and then Britney walks in with a tray of scones and he can’t believe it.
“It was a lovely surprise, even if it was a little overwhelming for James.”
