The “Someone Like You” singer beamed as she received her Most Excellent Order of the British Empire from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace this morning, making her full title Miss Adele Adkins MBE.

Others to be honoured during the ceremony include Christian Horner, the team principal of the Red Bull Formula One team, who received an OBE for his services to the motorsport.

Paralympians Josie Pearson and Aled Davies, both of whom won gold during London 2012, were awarded MBE.

Margaret Thatcher’s former private secretary Edward Leigh was knighted.

While the highest honour she’s received in her 25 years, Adele’s 2013 has been laden with awards and acceptance speeches.

In February, she won an Oscar for Best Original Song for James Bond movie theme tune, “Skyfall”.

She also collected her ninth Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Set Fire To The Rain”.

When her sophomore album 21 was released in 2011, it topped the charts in 30 different countries and clung onto the number one spot in the UK Album Charts for over 23 weeks.

Sales of over 28 million copies worldwide have seen Adele’s 16-times platinum record named the best-selling album on Amazon of all time, too.

Adele’s first album, 19, is also on the top ten best-sellers list at number eight. The singer is the only artist to feature on the list twice.
