According to English media reports Universal Pictures revealed that Angelina Jolie is in Sydney, Australia, to direct a World War II biopic titled ‘Unbroken’. The film will tell the story of Louie Zamperini – a track and field star who competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
The film is based on Laura Hillenbrand’s book ‘Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption’. In the story Zamperini spent a traumatic 47 days afloat in the Pacific Ocean following the 1943 crash of his US military plane before being picked up by the Japanese and spending two years as a prisoner of war.
‘Unbroken’ is slated to release in December 2014 and will feature Jack O’Connell who will play the former Olympian.
