Aamir Khan defends his nudity in the PK poster

The recently released poster of PK that featured a nude Aamir Khan, whose modesty was only saved by a radio set (transistor) has been at the receiving end, with the audience criticizing the poster. However, recently Aamir Khan defended the poster saying that the poster is akin to ‘key art’, “This is not for publicity, not for us at least. In fact this poster embibes all the elements of the film.”

Further citing the example of his earlier released film Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan added, “In the poster of Taare Zameen Par, the child (actor Darsheel Safary) is sitting in the front on the school bench and I am sitting behind him. So it is a kind of key art…the image that tells you much about the story and so is the poster of PK.”

Later talking about the poster again, he said, “When you (audience) will watch the film then only you will be able to understand the idea behind (the poster). But I would just like to say that the kind of filmmaker, the kind of writer Rajkumar is, he always tries to present the things, his thinking, in a unique way and that’s why I am his huge fan.”

On the other hand, while the poster has managed to generate a lot of hyper around the film, the makers have had to deal with a case that was filed in a court in Kanpur against Aamir Khan, director Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, accusing them of promoting nudity and vulgarity through PK poster.

PK that is directed by Rajkumar Hirani also features actor Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput. While the film’s trailer will hit the screens with Ajay Devgn’s film Singham Returns, PK is slated for release later this December.
